This app does everything I need and more. Downloading the manual from the developers website is a necessity though, because there isnt much help in the app itself.

With all the features and its adaptability, its easily worth the money you spend and you wont find one to beat it. Youd spend more on a new set of dice and this looks beautiful and has outstanding performance. However, I do have a suggestion for new features. Id like to see a way to generate dice rolls and send the results instantly to another smart device by text message or email (very helpful with play by post games or running games on the iPad using iMessage). Having an addressbook so I dont have to type the email address in each time would also be very helpful. Secondly, have an "initiative mode" wherein as GM I could tell the players to roll for initiative, they shake their iPhones, and their results get sent to me and they show up sorted by value. Add in the option to manually enter initiatives for players without smart phones and the ability to roll monster initiative and youd have a winner.
I use this app once a week at least. The graphics and sounds are pleasing and Ive found the numbers generated to be random. Sometimes to my detriment, since other players will use dice that often land on more favorable rolls. The character sheet for 3.5e D&D is useful, but it only has basic equipment and spells. There is an option to add custom items for some but, not all types (weapons, armor, etc.) so unfortunately, unless you know XML to add the custom item that way or stick to the basics then youre a bit out of luck in that department.
This dice rolling app has improved a great deal over some bad updates and Im glad that stuck around to see it happen. While this dice roller has all the features galore to accommodate just about any game system out there. If you really get into creating custom dice or macros, youll start to appreciate the inclusion of a web editor built in to the app, which when activated, allows you to use a browser to access, create, edit custom dice or macros. You can even upload background Pictures. To use the more sought after features like character cards, you better be prepared to deal with the extremely steep learning curve of making XML write ups. Unfortunately much of this is still undocumented. Although, if you already know how to code with XML, you might be able to glean clues from the example character cards available on the developers website. Fortunately this app also comes preinstalled with character cards for many game systems and hopefully the game system youre interested in is already available for use. Hopefully, complete documentation will be released in the near future, but for now there plenty here make this app the best of the best in dice rolling- type apps.
It looks great, looks powerful. Says I can add a 2d6+4 to the dice bar. I do add it, it works briefly...showing a roll of 3, adds the plus 4, displays 7. But after a few rolls, it suddenly decided not add the plus 4 on any rolls The roll becomes a simple d6, without adding the plus 4. Restarting program does not fix it. Deleting program now, wishing I had my cash back.
But people need to be contacting technical support before rating low. This app deserves no less than 5 stars because its the best program of its kind on any platform let alone mobile. They rolled out a huge feature list with 3.0 and glitches are to be expected. As someone who just wanted a dice roller on his phone, this app is worth $20 at least. That held true back when I bought it in v1 and its only gotten better.
...rather hard to use. I need to find the manual online, because the in-app manual assumes a knowledge of basic programming...of which I have basically none. That being said, it has made running DnD easier, as i can set up monster attack bonuses and damage rolls ahead of time and simply touch the screen to roll to-hit and damage simultaneously. Fantastic.
This app used to be awesome, but now it does a million things poorly. My game rooms wont save, the character sheets are bunk and the custom background settings simply dont work. I recommended this app to whole group and over the past year we have all stopped using it. Focus on what counts, functionality.
Needs more character sheets, BRP, call of Cthulhu? I mean it is called dicenomicon. O_o BRP would cover, Rune Quest, stormbringer, worlds of wonder, superwold, ring world, eloquent, hawk moon, Elric, nephilim. Also savage worlds, (Dead Lands), and the cortex for the (marvel rpg.) These systems seems to be gaining popularity. Why no character sheets for them?
I had set up several of my favorite rolls to handle the various types of roll found in the old World of Darkness games. They still work on my iPhone that has not yet downloaded this update, but my iPad no longer handles the target number (TN), reroll on n or greater (*), and >= dice no longer work properly. I suspect that it has to do with the changes to the script engine mentioned in the update. I would recommend skipping the update if these are things that you count on. Still a great app, though, when it is working.
I am so tired of this app. I have to go into the XML myself and fix the fact that Dex isnt calculated right. Initiative doesnt work right. The setup is so complicated that it makes it almost impossible to use in a game setting. Sure, I can spend a few hours setting up the app for a game, but I want to use this app in a game, not as a puzzle. Recent update gave me hopes that they would fix some of the problems. Nope.
I dont know how many times I have reported the problem setting a custom d4. Perhaps itll get noticed here.
Please update the app for iphone 5 and fix bugs or refund our money. So far you guys have rolled a critical failure.
This apps critical fixes have failed. Since the July 2012 update all rolls result in the same result. Dont purchase if it hasnt been fixed yet.
Please, Im begging you folks...please disable the background rotation. Why would someone even want that? All it does is go wildly askew if you try to minimize the app using the crumpling paper gesture. I know this isnt a high priority, but at least try to get around to a lock option.
Now its just eye candy that cant do math. Tried clean reinstall, wont properly roll even d6+1. Gets first roll right, all other rolls show first roll total. Known bug, still not fixed. Who needs a dice roller that cant add?
This update broke my app on iPad2+cell running iOS6.1.2. Install with caution.
So after the last patch it just crashes immediately, Id like my $$$ back now
Since the update the app instantly crashes the min I try to open it. Please fix
After getting latest update, program wont open, immediately sends me back to home page on my IPad. Before update, if you just shook your device to roll dice, it would keep giving you the first result over and over even when different numbers show, i.e., roll a d20, comes up 9, shake device and die shows 16, but still lists the 9 result from first roll. All other re roll options work fine. Also synced it with d&d 3.5 rules for character sheet info, yet no way to input a character was found, just basic blank character sheet. Need to provide directions on how to input a characters stats on this.
